At Hospice Care Mitigare
Hospice Care Mitigare is proud to memorialize Shaaron Kent whose generosity and deep affection for the people of San Miguel de Allende continue to inspire us all.
Shaaron visited Mexico frequently before finding her second home in the Balcones area of San Miguel in 1998. Her dream was to create a lasting legacy in this vibrant community, a dream that was tragically cut short when she lost her life in an accident at the age of 57 in May 2001.
To honor her memory and her heartfelt wishes, the Shaaron Kent Endowment Fund was established in 2012. This fund reflects Shaaron’s commitment to supporting education, hospice care, and the well-being of the people in San Miguel.
Thanks to a generous grant, the Shaaron Kent Education Program at Hospice Care Mitigare is able to provide vital training in end-of-life palliative care for medical professionals, caregivers, social workers, and community members.
In celebrating Shaaron’s life and her profound impact on those around her, we continue to carry forward her legacy of compassion and support for our community.

educational offerings
Hospice Care Mitigare ongoing education opportunities
Our Education facility will offer classes that provide essential tools, training, technical assistance, and connections for physicians, professionals, and family caregivers who are caring for individuals with end-of-life prognoses.
Additionally, we are the only ELNEC Training Center for all of Latin America, making this facility a critical addition to our Center. It will also be utilized by other local NGOs for a variety of relevant classes.
Bioethics & Thanatology
Facilitators: Martha Hamill and Rocío Mendoza
- 6-hour course,
- Advanced training in bioethics and thanatology,
- Ensures high quality compassionate bereavement counseling and spiritual end-of-life care.
ELNEC
(End-of-Life Nursing Education Curriculum)
Facilitator: Dr. Lulú Tejeida
- 16-hour course,
- Advanced, high-quality palliative care training for nurses and home caregivers.
ELNEC Train the Trainers
Facilitator: Dr. Lulú Tejeida
- 16-hour course,
- Staff training ensures more professionals and volunteers are prepared to provide advanced palliative care.
Volunteer Training
Facilitators: Hospice Care Mitigare Staff
- 6-hour course,
- Specific to volunteer caregivers, ensuring necessary support to improve the quality of life of patients and their families during the end-of-life process.
INCAN Intensive Course
Facilitator: Training Manager Dr. Lulú Tejeida
- Requires a 15-day stay,
- Provides a specialized update on the latest advances and best practices in palliative care,
- Available only to Doctors and Nurses.
