The first in Mexico
Hospice Care Mitigare Center
Coming Soon!
Bringing the first Hospice Center in Mexico to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato
With the opening of our new Hospice Care center in San Miguel this fall, we will be ready to provide world-class Hospice Care to all residents of the community who need it. Once completed, our facility will serve as a training site for healthcare professionals across Mexico. Phase one of the project will include a medical care center with 3 initial in-patient beds, a day hospital, administrative offices, a volunteer office, a conference room, and a non-denominational chapel. Phase two is scheduled for completion within the next two years. In this new phase, the training facilities will be where we host our accredited courses for all medical personnel interested in training in this area, as well as for the general community.
Hospice Care Mitigare will offer both outpatient and inpatient services at our center, including personalized guidance and comprehensive end-of-life medical care for patients and their loved ones. Additionally, we will continue to coordinate home medical care, a hallark of our partnership at Hospice Care Mitigare since 2016.
Our Beginning
For the last eight years, Mitigare Cuidados Paliativos A.C. has provided palliative care to patients facing terminal diagnoses in the comfort of their own homes and offered support to their families. As Les Matthews, president of Hospice Care Mitigare’s board, explained, “Mitigare will still provide services in people’s homes, but now, when a patient’s caretaker needs a break, or when someone lives too far out in the campo (countryside) to receive regular care, they can come to our facility for dignified, specialized end-of-life care.”

On November 27, 2023, a ceremony was held at the site of the new Hospice Care Mitigare location to mark the laying of the foundation stone. The ceremony was attended by Lic. Mauricio Trejo Pureco, the municipal president, and Leslie A. Matthews, President of the Board of Directors of Hospice Care Mitigare. The new center promises to benefit all residents of San Miguel de Allende.
